The Sparrows of Paris
Headed by Parisian jazz singer Carolyn Saint-Pé and composed of accordion, clarinet, guitar and double bass, The Sparrows of Paris bring you the chansons of the beginning of the twentieth century (Edith Piaf, Fréhel, Mistinguett, Arletty, Lucienne Delyle, Lucienne Boyer and many more) and the authentic jazz-musette of the 1930s and 40s. The Sparrows of Paris continue the tradition of the bals musette, the popular social dances of the 1920s to 1940s with dances such as valses musette, javas, tangos and foxtrots. With their first album, Javas, The Sparrows of Paris added a couple of new javas written in a similar retro style.
The Sparrows of Paris are based in London, UK and have been playing in the UK, France and Belgium for more than 6 years. The band can perform as a duo, quartet or quintet and adapt their repertoire to suit the occasion, either a bal musette experience (vintage french social dance), a jazzy feel (jazz, jazz-musette and/or gypsy jazz) or a smooth french lounge music set.
